Groups are an excellent way to get to know one another better in a smaller setting than after a parish service. The Housegroups and Study Groups provide a great way of strengthening our own faith and exploring what our discipleship means for us, our families and our community.

Monthly Meditation (Lectio divina)Third Thursday of each month.
This meets in the Barnabas Chapel at 8.00pm on the third Thursday of each month. Lectio Divina means ‘divine reading’ and it is an ancient Christian practice that engages us in a prayerful listening to Scripture. It is structured round a purposeful silence and stillness. It is a silence in which we seek to encounter God as God connects directly and personally with each of us through the particular Scripture passage being prayed. The nature of Lectio Divina lends itself to a spiritual journey rather than to the acquisition of Biblical/theological knowledge. For more details email: groups@stbarnabasdulwich.org or contact the Parish Office: 020 8693 1524

During the year
Social Responsibility Steering Group
We try to encourage the varied activities of the Parish by looking at issues that affect our society and our faith, and finding practical projects to which we can give time and resources. These include our neighbourhood helpline and support for the homeless. For more details email: groups@stbarnabasdulwich.org or contact the Parish Office: 020 8693 1524St Barnabas Religious Prisoners of Conscience Group
The group was formed in 1992 to take up the cases of those who are persecuted or imprisoned for their faith. We meet a total of five times a year on a weekday between 8.00-10.00pm to discuss the current situation in selected countries and of certain individuals or groups and decide what action we should take. This includes writing letters and e-mails to parliamentarians and embassies and sending cards, particularly at Christmas and Easter, to prisoners and others suffering persecution. We raise awareness among the congregation and participate in Suffering Church Sunday. Prayer is an intrinsic part of our activities. All are welcome.
