St Barnabas church is the second to have stood on the site. The first was a large, brick Victorian Gothic building consecrated in 1894 which replaced a less permanent structure further down the hill towards Dulwich Village. In 1919 this was made the Parish church of Dulwich. It was destroyed by fire on the 7 December 1992, but some elements still remain to remind us of our past. The building which stands proudly on Calton Avenue is the fruit of faith, professional ability, communication and vision. You can read more about the design and architecture of the second church to stand on the site.

There is much which goes on and not just on Sundays.  There are groups that meet regularly during the week as well as social events and lectures and discussions. From Social Responsibility to Housegroups and from Older People’s groups to Youth groups, there really is something for everyone.

Everyone who attends St Barnabas and Christ's Chapel is welcome to join one of the groups that meet throughout the parish. Groups are an excellent way to get to know one another better in a smaller setting than after a parish service. The Housegroups and Study Groups provide a great way of strengthening our own faith and exploring what our discipleship means for us, our families and our community you will also find details about Sunday School and when these groups take place.
