Volunteering at St Barnabas
We believe every adult and child has a part to play in serving our Church, our Parish Community, and the world which we live in together. Please consider how God might be calling you to use your gifts and talents to join a team ministering to children and young people, welcoming our friends seeking refuge and asylum on Thursday mornings, serving refreshments at our Friday toddler group, being part of the Events’ Committee, learning to livestream services, or joining us on the second Saturday morning of the month for gardening, mowing, chat and cake.
We also have a number of secondary school students completing their Duke of Edinburgh Award with us and would be glad to welcome you too.
At St Barnabas with Christ’s Chapel, we value the gifts of all peoples, living with all abilities and disabilities, who help each of us to live together and be more ourselves. Speak to one of the clergy team or contact the parish office to join a volunteer team or ministry today.
Church in the World
The members of St Barnabas with Christ’s Chapel raise money for various charities throughout the year, through special events or retiring collections.
Here are some of the charities we support in this way:
- Church Urban Fund
- Christian Aid
- Dulwich Helpline and Southwark Churches Care
- Mercy Ships
- Pecan Peckham Foodbank
- The Children’s Society
- UK Connect
Social Responsibility Group
The Social Responsibility Group is always happy to consider suggestions for new charities to support. Please let us know if you have such a charity in mind.
Of course, financial help is not the only way we can support these causes and put our faith into action. Many of these organisations and others always need volunteers, and this need not be a big commitment of time. If you are interested in voluntary work or know a charity that is looking for volunteers, please contact a member of the Social Responsibility Group.
